BIPP Photographer Of the Year Awards 2010

Wednesday, December 8, 2010
We are very pleased to announce that we have been awarded second place in British Wedding Photographer of the Year at the British Institute of Professional Photographers annual Awards held at Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire.
We were unable to attend due to work commitments but we have been sent a lovely etched glass trophy to add to our trophy display in the studio!
It would have been great to have got first place but we can't complain as we've has a brilliant year with winning Kodak Wedding Photographer of the Year, BIPP Photographer of the Year Scotland, and MPA Photographer of the Year Scotland all earlier this year.
We will keep our fingers crossed that next year is just as sucessful as this year!
The image that was awarded was from Sian & Alan's Wedding at the Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh. Have a look at the images from their big day below.

Melville Castle Wedding Photography - Joanne & Carl

Thursday, December 2, 2010
Melville Castle was the venue for Joanne & Carl's Wedding Reception on 22nd October. The service was held in Edinburgh city centre at St Mary's Cathedral so Joanne chose the beautiful and contemporary Princes Street Suites to get ready.
We had a great time photographing this wedding, Joanne & Carl are a lovely couple and we wish them every happiness together as the new Mr & Mrs McCauley!
Here are a few images from their big day.

John's image, below, beat thousands of entries across Britain and was announced as the winner at the Master Photographers Association Awards ceremony held at the Hilton Hotel, Birmingham, with special guest comedian Tom O'Connor.

Crystal & Richard 9th July 2010, Edinburgh Wedding Photography

Monday, July 12, 2010

It was our first time working at George Heriots School Edinburgh on Friday, for the wedding of Crystal & Richard.

Crystal & Richard live in Canada where Crystal is from, although Richard is Scottish and went to school at George Heriots so what better place to get married!

The architecture is beautiful and the views of Edinburgh Castle spectacular so we really couldn't fail to get stunning photos.

Put that together with a visit to Princes Street Gardens and the finished images are amazing!

Crystal & Richard went on to Craighouse Napier for their reception

Natasha & Dane, Wedding Photography at Comlongon Castle

Friday, June 18, 2010
On Wednesday we shot Natasha & Dane's wedding at Comlongan Castle in Dumfries. It's ages since we worked there and it was lovely to be back.

The weather was great and the grounds of Comlongan are beautiful so that, together with the fact that Natasha & Dane are a great looking couple, meant we couldn't fail to get stunning pictures.

There were a real mixture of accents at this wedding as Dane is from Australia and Natasha is Canadian, not forgetting Natasha's dad Mike who is Scottish!

After the candlelit ceremony in the keep, the guests chatted with Natasha and Dane for a little while out on the lawn before going into the castle for champagne and canapes while we took the Bride and Groom away for some romantic photos around the grounds.

Natasha and Dane, we hope you like the images, we look forward to showing you the rest. Have a safe journey back to Australia and we'll speak to you soon.

Wedding of Karn & Ben, 5th June 2010, Wedding Photography at Auchen Castle

Tuesday, June 8, 2010

We were off to Auchen Castle, near Moffat, on Saturday for the wedding of Karn McSpadyen & Ben Turnbull.

Karn, originally from Scotland, is also a photographer based in Leicestershire so no pressure then!

It was a georgeous day with bright sunshine although a huge black cloud sat behind the castle for a big part of the shoot. Luckily the rain stayed away for the photographs and we got a really dramatic looking shot of Karn & Ben walking towards the castle with the big black cloud dominating the sky.

The whole day was very relaxed, Karn, Ben and their guests were all really laid back and everyone including us had a great time.

Here's a few shots we took on the day including the dramatic one with the stormy sky! Yes that really was how the sky looked, no tweaking needed!

Nicola & David, Wedding Photography at Loch Lomond

Thursday, May 20, 2010

After Friday's wedding in Edinburgh we headed up to Loch Lomond for the Wedding of Nicola & David.

We stayed in a beautiful little Guest House, along from the Duck Bay Marina, called "Watersedge Cottage" and as the name suggests it's right on the waters edge with stunning views over Loch Lomond. We can definately reccommend it!

It looked like it was going to be a dodgy day weather wise, at one point the rain was bouncing off the pavements. However, in true Scottish style, it was like turning off a tap! The rain stopped and the rest of the day was perfect, warm and sunny.

Nicola was getting ready at the "Carrick" in one of the Luxury lodges in the "Mansions" owned by Cameron House. WOW! What a place. The rooms are huge, contemporary and stunningly decorated. Well worth another visit if we get a few days break.

After the ceremony at Bonhill Parish Church the guests went on to the Duck Bay Marina Hotel while we took the Bride & Groom to the Arden Youth Hostel for photographs. What a georgeous building it looks more like a castle, you'd never guess it was a Youth Hostel at all.

Then it was back to the Duck Bay Marina for a few family shots before everyone sat down to dinner and speeches.

Nicola & david provided us with a beautiful meal and had even sat us with their guests in the dining room which was lovely and unexpected!

At night Nicola & David had their first dance against the beautiful backdrop of Loch Lomond and Ben Lomond, a perfect end to the day. We wish we could have stayed an extra night and enjoyed the festivities with you rather than face the 2.5 hour drive home but never mind!

Thank you to Nicola & David, it felt more like photographing 2 friends rather than clients. You and your families were great to work with and you made our job all the more enjoyable.

Here are a few images we hope you like viewing them as much as we did creating them.

Judith & Scott's Wedding, Norton House Wedding Photography

Judith & Scott's Wedding took place at Norton House just outside Edinburgh last Friday. It's the first time we've worked there since the new spa and Garden Suite was built. It's very modern which is a nice contrast to the old stonework of the original house.

After a drizzly start the weather cleared up for us and the day went perfectly. All the guests came outside and sipped their champagne while watching the family shots being taken in the walled garden and then we took Judith & Scott round to the old part of the hotel and took some beautiful shots in the grounds and at the front entrance.

Thanks to all Judith & Scott's guests, you were a pleasure to photograph and it was lovely to see some familiar faces in the form of past Bride & grooms and their families.

Biggest thanks go to Judith & Scott themselves for making our job easy and enjoyable. We can't wait for you to see your images!

Here are a few shots we took, we hope you like them.
