By the sea

Saturday, December 11, 2010
This is one of the pics I took in June when I drove 10 hours in one day for 2 hours by the sea. You might think it crazy, but I loved it. It was definitely worth it.

Good morning everyone.

I don't know about you, but I've had a wonderful Friday evening. I enjoyed another symphony concert at Leipzigs Music College. They performed Robert Schumanns op. 81 "Genoveva", which is an opera seldom performed. Can't understand why though, since it's an amazing piece of music and I really loved it. And the best thing? Nobody dies in it! (Not that I listened to the text. ;-)

Normally the hero and heroine die at the end, which takes up to 20 minutes, as in "Aida" by Guiseppe Verdi (Seriously who starts to sing arias in a grave, when you are running out of air?). I can't remember if I liked the music in "Aida", but I remember that I was really annoyed by the dying scene. And the fact that the "young" General was fatter and older than Aidas father!

Another opera that I like for the music is "Tosca" by Giacomo Puccini. I really would love to hear it as a whole and maybe see it on stage provided it is a production with real costumes and not one of those stupid modern minimalist productions. Seriously, if I pay 50€ for a ticket I want abundance for ears and eyes!

What operas do you like?

Enjoy your weekend.

Can you believe that it's already October again?

I know I sound like an old woman, but I have the feeling that time races. Those pics I took at the start of June, that was 4 months ago! Crazy.

Have a great weekend.

WEEKEND

Saturday, October 2, 2010

Oh, how I wish I could go to the sea today. Instead I'll be going to the national library to read in an awesome book and to ponder my life afterwards with a nice coffee from Star.... sounds like the second best plan to me and it doesn't cost me a fortune.
Have a great weekend.

Wustrow - Bodden side

I've been to the Open Day of the Old Spinnery. Lot's of galleries with new artists. Except for one photograph I wouldn't buy any of this stuff.

To get back to the F/Stop. Well, I think Saranna is right, they looked for the subject matter.

Nevertheless, subject matter does NOT stand in an EITHER OR relationship to craftsmanship. This is 2010 you get good cameras for a reasonable price (you can lend one from a friend), there are video tutorials, books, workshops, photoblogs and so on. Photography is nothing new and you can learn the basics in no time. Unfortunately a lot of those pictures with subject matter looked like the artist was using a camera for the first time.

Photography, to me, means playing with light. Most of those artists don't know how to play.

Well, this is my opinion of those pictures. You don't have to like or appreciate it. There are probably a lot of you who would like them and that's fine.

I've tried to take this kind of pictures years ago with my exa1a and I was devastated when they didn't turn out like the ones above. Well, this is why I love my Nikon F90, most of the time the pictures turn out as I want them to have. So when it comes to SLR cameras I stick to Nikon.

There I was thinking that I had all films from my trip to the baltic sea back, apparently I was wrong.

What fascinates me, is how much more the colors come out with film. Digital never seems to cut it.

I've been to the Darss yesterday and I took some pictures with my Nikon F90, no lomography though. Anyway, until I have my films developed you get some digital pictures. Canon Digital IXUS 75 as usual.
