Canon 40D Noise Reduction with Noise Ninja and Nik Dfine 2 Comparison

Further to my recent Canon 40D and 50D noise test I wanted to test the effectiveness of these two noise reduction plugins to see if one stood out as being better than the other. Again I will draw no conclusions but let you decide which does the better job. Again I will go from 800 ISO and start with the 40D images first. Just click on an image to see the 100% crop and feel free to download then to your pc to compare them side by side. I used the Noise Ninja camera profiles for their respective camera and ISO setting. With Nik Dfine 2 I ran Nik Raw pre-sharpener as unlike Noise Ninja Dfine adds no sharpening.

Both plugins do a great job at reducing noise on these images. I will leave you to decide which one would be your preferred choice. I will add another post to examine the effect of these two on the 50D images in my next post.
